The first phase of 5G rollout has started in Pakistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued Terms of Reference (TOR) and invited expressions of interest to hire international consultants for this purpose.
An international consultant will consult with industrial and telecom operators to prepare a report for the 5G rollout in Pakistan. The consultant’s task includes preparing the spectrum allocation mechanism as per global standards, determining the price per megahertz of spectrum in rupees and dollars and creating an easy payment plan for the spectrum auction.
The international consultant will make policy recommendations to the PTA for the spectrum auction. The government will conduct a 5G spectrum auction based on this proposal.
