ISLAMABAD: GAK HealthCare International on Wednesday launched a strategic expansion into Indonesia, a move expected to generate cross-border investments, enhance medical education, and showcase Pakistan’s private sector as a trusted global partner.
The initiative, led by Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi, aims to establish a medical college modeled after GAK’s Islamabad Medical & Dental College, deploy specialized doctors, and develop a research and training hub in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. The plan also includes academic collaboration, student exchanges, and joint research between Pakistani and Indonesian institutions.
A high-level delegation, comprising representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad, RSM Pakistan, RSM Indonesia, and facilitated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met NTT Governor H.E. Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena and other senior officials. Yasir Niazi also held talks with H.E. Riyatno, Vice Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, to explore technology-driven medical services in Indonesia.
Officials in Indonesia welcomed the initiative. In Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regent Edistasius Endi pledged full governmental support, including favorable zoning and potential Presidential Decrees to facilitate projects. At Nusa Cendana University and RSUD Komodo Hospital, healthcare leaders proposed faculty exchanges, data-sharing, and phased collaboration.
Yasir Niazi noted that Asia-Pacific’s healthcare sector is projected to reach USD 5 trillion by 2030, while Southeast Asia’s education technology market is forecast to quadruple by 2033. “Leveraging GAK’s proven models in Pakistan, we are committed to positioning Pakistan as a source of healthcare excellence and innovation,” he said.
Imran Ali Ghouri, Head of Communications at GAK HealthCare International, described the expansion as “a transformational shift in how Pakistan’s private sector is perceived internationally,” adding that Southeast Asia’s healthcare and education sectors offer immense opportunities for impact and investment.
The projects are expected to channel multi-million-dollar investments within the next five years, elevating Pakistan’s role in global healthcare and education.
