Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has said that he will soon make public an internal incident involving the current team in the T20 World Cup.
In an interview with a local TV station, Shahid Afridi asked about the lack of unity in the team, and the former captain pointed to Mohammad Wasim, who is in the visiting team.
Shahid Afridi said referring to Mohammad Wasim: “He knows very well and I know, but we cannot talk openly.”
Continuing the conversation, he said, “Responsibility for team cohesion, unity and players’ relationship lies with the captain. The captain either makes or breaks a positive environment.”
Shahid Afridi said, “The captain unites the team ahead of the team leader and coach. He has the authority and is supported by the selection committee. The captain’s job is to make the team fight on the field.”
The former captain further said, “I have a different relationship with Shaheen. If I say something, people will say that I am supporting my son-in-law, even if it is not. the law is wrong, I will call them”.
“In the past, the selection committee and our board have made serious mistakes. I will speak openly after the World Cup. Our people have ruined this department.”
It may be noted that on Sunday, June 9, India defeated Pakistan by 6 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup match. Pakistan failed to reach the easy target of 120 overs.
