The national team’s opener Imam-ul-Haq once again came to the defense of captain Babar Azam.
In a program on a private TV channel, the consistently overlooked opener Ahmed Shehzad recently criticized Babar Azam, calling him a fake king and attacking his statistics. In response, Imam-ul-Haq said that they all played for Pakistan and that none were happy with the team’s performance against India; however, the element of respect should not be overlooked.
He said that Babar is the captain of Pakistan and if you don’t want to accept that, fine! The world crowned him king, you may not accept it! Imam-ul-Haq compared Babar Azam’s criticism to body shaming.

Imam-ul-Haq further said that Babar’s contribution to the team and the fact that he played more than 250 matches should be respected. He urged critics to review these statistics.
Earlier, Ahmed Shehzad had called Babar Azam a fake king, accused him of favoring friends while selecting teams and expressed displeasure at the lack of accountability on the part of several PCB chairmen.
He further stated that in the World Cup, Babar Azam faced 205 balls in the power bowler but failed to hit a single six.
