Three government employees of the Utility Corporation in Sukkur joined hands with dacoits to demand a ransom of 4 million rupees from their own officer.
According to police sources, hired thugs from Islamabad in Sukkur Municipal Corporation threatened the CEO and demanded a ransom of Rs 4 crore through a social media post.
Police said six criminals stopped an officer at a checkpoint, fired a weapon and threatened to kill him when the ransom was not paid.
Two officers were arrested during the police operation, one of whom confessed to planning to kidnap the officer.
Police have registered a case against four suspects, including three Public Corporation employees, named under the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Abad Police Station.
