with an extremely hot or cold atmosphere of their own nature. Some are so hot that their atmosphere rains down molten rock, while others are so cold that they are referred to as ice giants.
The latest addition to the planets is a planet named WASP-193b. This planet is many times larger than Earth, but its density is so low that scientists have compared it to cotton candy.
The planet is located 1200 light years from Earth. It is about 1.5 times larger than Jupiter, but interestingly, its density has been measured at 0.059 grams per cubic centimeter, which is similar to foams, low-density plastics, and aerogels.
Julien de Wit, author of the report published in the journal Nature Astronomy, said the reason for labeling this planet cotton candy is that it is fundamentally very light. The planet’s atmosphere is primarily composed of light elements such as hydrogen and helium, giving it the appearance of a floating, puffy, cloud-like sphere.
According to NASA, the size of this planet cannot be applied to models filled with radiation gases that form giant planets. This is because the planet does not have a solid surface.
