Peshawar: The Department of Journalism at the University of Peshawar organized a special event focusing on entrepreneurial activities where journalism students showcased their business ideas by setting up various stalls based on innovative and income oriented concepts. This was the first time such an event was held in the Journalism Department.
Event aims to promote entrepreneurship among journalism students
The main objective of the event was to promote entrepreneurial thinking among young students and to encourage them to focus on income generating opportunities alongside their academic pursuits. Students briefed the university’s Dean and Chairperson of the Department of Journalism, Dr. Mehnaz Gul, about their stalls and business ideas.
Dr Mehnaz Gul highlights importance of entrepreneurship in journalism
Dr. Mehnaz Gul appreciated the efforts of the students and termed the initiative a positive and encouraging step.She said it was heartening to see journalism students actively participating in their own entrepreneurial ventures for the first time.
Journalism education linked with startups and digital media
Dr. Mehnaz Gul emphasised that entrepreneurial initiatives in journalism and mass communication empower students to launch independent media platforms, startups, and digital news ventures. These initiatives encourage new storytelling models, sustainable revenue strategies, and greater adaptability in the evolving media landscape.
Journalism students prepare for practical life through innovation
Dr. Mehnaz Gul further stated that the purpose of organizing such activities was to motivate students and prepare them for practical life.The large participation of students clearly reflected their interest creativity, and commitment to building their own identity through innovation and hard work. She added that such initiatives would also enable students to play an effective role in various sectors in the future.
Positive response to journalism entrepreneurship event
The event received an encouraging response, as different stalls attracted students and visitors alike providing motivation and confidence to the participants. Students, on the other hand, expressed their gratitude to Dr. Mehnaz Gul for providing opportunities that engage them in entrepreneurial activities along with their education.
