TIMERGARA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has launched a food safety inspection and sample collection campaign in various areas of Tehsil Rabat, Lower Dir, under the special instructions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Khan.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Director KP Food Authority Lower Dir, Shakeel Khan, during which food businesses including restaurants, fast food outlets, and bakery production units were inspected for compliance with food safety laws.

Water and Food Samples Collected for Laboratory Testing

Officials said water samples used for cooking in restaurants were collected and sent to the Food Authority’s static laboratory for quality testing. Inspections also focused on hygiene standards, food handling practices, and compliance with the Authority’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Fines Imposed, Licenses Renewed

During the campaign, fines were imposed on businesses found violating food safety regulations. Expired licenses were renewed, while newly established food businesses were geo-tagged and issued licenses to ensure proper monitoring.

Authorities said the inspection drive aims to ensure safe food for the public and strengthen regulatory oversight across Lower Dir.
