During the meeting, the female ombudsperson gave a detailed briefing on the objectives and mandate of her office and outlined various initiatives undertaken to address issues faced by women. She highlighted the role of her office in matters related to inheritance and property rights, protection of women’s rights in government institutions, and effective grievance redressal.
Discussions also focused on strengthening institutional coordination, launching targeted public awareness campaigns to educate women about their legal, constitutional and Shariah rights, and organising open courts at divisional and district levels to ensure timely resolution of women’s complaints.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Commissioner Masood Ahmed appreciated the efforts of the female ombudsperson in ensuring the protection and delivery of women’s rights and assured full administrative support from the district administration. He directed that, in collaboration with the ombudsperson’s office, a comprehensive women’s rights awareness campaign and an open court be organised in Swat on February 6.
He said the initiative would help ensure that women are informed of their rights related to inheritance, property and government institutions, and that their concerns are heard and addressed promptly.
