The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has formally issued a tender for the establishment of a Jawan Markaz in Shangla, a long-standing demand of local youth. The project, estimated at Rs 170 million, is part of the province’s youth empowerment policy and aims to provide skills training, vocational opportunities, and constructive engagement for young people in remote districts.

According to an advertisement released by the Directorate of Works and Implementation, the project has been included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26. Contracts have been invited through an e-bidding process for Jawan Markaz facilities in Bannu, Kohat, Charsadda, Upper Chitral, and Shangla, with Rs 162.188 million allocated for Shangla. Bids will be opened on February 18, 2026, under the Single Stage Two Envelopes system. Eligible contractors must be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council and meet all government requirements.

Officials said the center will provide training programmes, sports activities, study spaces, and other social and educational services. The initiative is expected to help curb negative tendencies among youth while promoting healthy and positive social activities.

The project has been attributed to the leadership of Chief Minister Suhail Khan Afridi and the provincial government’s development priorities. MPA Abdul Munim was also credited for raising and pursuing the demand at legislative forums.

Political and social circles, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, welcomed the announcement, saying it reflects the vision of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, who has emphasized that youth are the nation’s greatest asset. Public representatives expressed hope that the Jawan Markaz will contribute to Shangla’s social and economic development and improve future prospects for local youth.
