ISLAMABAD, July 2: Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) Tarlai concluded its Summer School & Fiesta 2026 with a closing ceremony after two weeks of learning, creative activities and skill-based training for female students.
The programme was organized under the Federal Directorate of Education’s FDE Summer Fiesta 2026 initiative, which aims to promote experiential learning and help students develop practical, creative and communication skills during the summer break.
According to the college administration, 1,650 students participated in 12 specialized courses offered free of cost. The initiative enabled students from diverse backgrounds, particularly from rural areas of the federal capital, to access learning opportunities during summer vacations.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Area Education Officer Nilore, as chief guest. IMCG Tarlai Principal Mrs. Kausar Parveen welcomed faculty members, parents, members of the School Management Committee and principals from other institutions of the Nilore sector.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Khalid Mahmood appreciated the college administration and faculty for organizing the Summer School & Fiesta. He said such initiatives help students use the summer break productively while strengthening their academic, creative and practical skills.
He also praised the active participation of students, saying the programme helped them build confidence and prepare for future challenges.

Students complete free skill-based courses
The two-week programme offered courses in Spoken English, Canva and Digital Marketing, Sketching and Canvas Painting, Creative Mehndi and Nail Art, Crochet Work, Hand Embroidery, Culinary Arts, Calligraphy, Qirat and Tajweed, among others.
Senior officials of the Federal Directorate of Education also visited IMCG Tarlai during the programme and appreciated the activities organized by the college. The visitors included Dr. Ehsan Mehmood, Director Schools FDE; Ms. Riffat Jabeen, Director Academics FDE; Dr. Fasiha Fayyaz, Deputy Director FDE; and Muhammad Riaz, AEO Sihala.
The officials interacted with students and teachers and commended the enthusiasm, creativity and quality of the activities displayed during the Summer School & Fiesta 2026.
Principal Mrs. Kausar Parveen said the programme was designed to provide students with meaningful learning beyond the traditional classroom. She said the initiative helped students discover their potential, strengthen confidence and develop practical skills for academic and personal growth.
Vice Principal and Summer Fiesta Supervisor Mrs. Saima Shaheen said the strong response to the Spoken English course reflected students’ interest in improving communication skills. She said the course focused on confidence-building through interactive learning.

Parents and members of the School Management Committee appreciated the FDE initiative and said the free courses reflected a commitment to expanding access to quality education and skill development opportunities for students.
The closing ceremony featured exhibitions, live demonstrations and presentations showcasing students’ work across different disciplines. Dr. Khalid Mahmood distributed certificates among participating students and resource persons in recognition of their efforts during the programme.
