Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir meets US fintech delegation in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, met a delegation of World Liberty Financial USA on Tuesday, reflecting growing international interest in Pakistan’s evolving economic and digital finance landscape.

According to ISPR, the delegation was led by Zachary Witkoff, Chief Executive Officer of the US-based financial technology firm. The meeting focused on Pakistan’s economic potential, financial inclusion, and the role of technology in supporting cross-border digital transactions.

Officials said the visiting delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s market size and reform trajectory, noting that digital finance solutions could contribute to efficiency, transparency, and broader participation in the formal economy.

The interaction took place against the backdrop of Pakistan’s broader push to modernise its financial infrastructure, including recent initiatives aimed at digitising payments and improving cross-border transaction mechanisms. Authorities have described these efforts as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen investor confidence and integrate Pakistan more effectively into global financial networks.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the exchange of views and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to economic stability, investor confidence, and creating an enabling environment for responsible private sector participation in national development. He emphasized that sustainable growth requires institutional coordination and adherence to national laws and international standards.

Officials clarified that the engagement did not involve any binding financial commitments.
