RAWALPINDI: Police are reportedly investigating allegations involving a five-year-old girl at Westminster International School in Bahria Town Phase 7, while the school administration has denied that any inappropriate incident took place.
The allegations have prompted concern among parents and students, with questions also being raised about CCTV coverage and supervision arrangements inside the school. According to the child’s mother, the girl returned home complaining of pain and allegedly told her that something had happened to her at school.
The mother said she questioned her daughter about whether anyone had touched her and that the child allegedly responded that she had been touched. The account led to discussions between the family and school administration and heightened concern among other parents.
Parents raise questions over CCTV footage
The girl’s mother reportedly visited the school seeking information and said officials showed her CCTV recordings from several locations. She wanted to review footage from a main corridor through which her daughter had allegedly passed.
According to her account, the child had been accompanied by a female staff member in the area, and she was reportedly told that the relevant camera was not working. The CCTV issue subsequently became a central concern for parents seeking to establish what happened before and after the alleged incident.
The school administration has denied the allegation and said the matter requires investigation before any conclusion can be reached. A clip circulating online reportedly shows the principal discussing the allegations and saying the administration would establish the facts.
During a meeting between parents and school officials, CCTV footage from the relevant block was reportedly arranged for viewing. The girl’s parents objected to the footage being shown publicly and requested to examine it privately. A separate arrangement was subsequently made for them to view the recordings.
Students stage protest
The controversy later spread to students, with O/A Level students reportedly staging a protest at the school’s football ground. Posters, photographs and videos of the demonstration were also shared on social media.
Unverified claims have circulated online that some parents temporarily stopped sending their children to school because of concerns arising from the controversy. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.
The allegations have also generated widespread discussion online, with users calling for an impartial investigation and raising broader questions about child protection and staff supervision in educational institutions.
Police examine allegations
Rawalpindi police have reportedly started looking into the allegations. Investigators are expected to examine the child’s account, statements from the parents and school staff, available CCTV recordings and other evidence that may help establish what happened.
The allegations remain unproven. No individual should be considered responsible for a criminal offence unless the claims are established through credible evidence and due legal process.
