SWABI: A women empowerment training programme has been launched in Dagai, Swabi, offering free skill-based courses to help women gain employment and improve their economic independence. The initiative, titled “Empowered Women,” is a joint effort by CERD and PTCL.
The programme aims to support women by providing practical training in areas that enable home-based income generation, addressing both employment gaps and financial challenges in the region.
Focus on skills and self-reliance
The training programme is being conducted at the Razzar Technical Training Centre and Computer Institute, where participants will receive instruction in tailoring and embroidery, beauty services and digital marketing.
Organisers said the courses are designed to equip women with market-relevant skills, enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood while managing household responsibilities.
Community participation and support
The launch event was attended by local dignitaries and community members, who highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and access to skill development opportunities.
Speakers at the ceremony said such initiatives play a key role in promoting economic self-sufficiency and improving the overall socio-economic conditions of families.
Positive response from local community
Residents welcomed the programme, expressing hope that it would create new opportunities for women in the area and encourage greater participation in the workforce.
Officials said the initiative is expected to benefit a large number of women in Swabi by providing them with the tools needed to build independent and sustainable sources of income.
