ABBOTTABAD: A religious leader from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in ongoing regional tensions, while calling for broader and more inclusive efforts to ensure a meaningful ceasefire.
In a statement, Mufti Jafar Tiyar Maqbool Awan, Secretary General of Pakistan Sharia Council Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Pakistan’s diplomatic role in the US-Iran conflict is being acknowledged at the global level and could contribute to efforts aimed at restoring peace in the Middle East.

He said it would be an honour for Pakistan to play a constructive role in facilitating peace in the region and expressed hope for the success of ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
Call for comprehensive ceasefire approach
Mufti Awan also raised concerns about the scope of ceasefire discussions, noting that Israel’s role in the conflict should be addressed in any peace framework.
He questioned how a ceasefire could be effective if all relevant parties are not included, and stressed the importance of ensuring that any agreement is applied comprehensively.
Emphasis on international law and stability
The religious leader urged stakeholders involved in peace efforts to work towards a framework that promotes stability and adherence to international norms.
He said that while all initiatives aimed at ending hostilities are welcome, lasting peace would depend on inclusive dialogue and commitment from all sides involved in the conflict.
