SWAT: Several political and social figures from the Ghwarband, Leloni and Kana areas of Shangla district joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during a ceremony held at Muslim League House Sangota in Swat, where Federal Minister Amir Muqam said serious leadership was essential for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
The new entrants, along with their supporters, resigned from their respective parties and announced their affiliation with PML-N in the presence of party leaders and workers. The development adds to ongoing political realignments in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ahead of future electoral activity.
Federal Minister and President PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Muqam welcomed the new members by presenting them with party mufflers. Those who joined included Khaista Muhammad, Haji Shah Saud, Talab Dar, Haji Zameen, Karim Khan, Fareed Khan and Dilshad Khan.
Addressing the gathering, Muqam said the country requires responsible and committed political leadership focused on national development and economic stability. He stated that PML-N had previously played a role in steering Pakistan through difficult periods and cited development during the tenure of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to addressing public issues in Shangla, including the provision of basic facilities, while noting that resources and time constraints affect development planning.
The federal minister criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that road blockages and disruptions to commercial activity in the province had created difficulties for citizens. He further said that welfare initiatives, including Ramadan relief efforts, should be implemented on merit and without political considerations.
A large number of district office-bearers and party workers attended the ceremony.
