PESHAWAR — The chairman and members of the District Zakat Committee Peshawar visited the Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Center and Blood Transfusion Services to review the organization’s medical and welfare services for patients with blood disorders.
District Zakat Chairman Muhammad Zaheer led the delegation, which was briefed on the foundation’s activities and support programs for patients suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia and other related diseases. The visit focused on understanding the scale of services provided by the organization and exploring ways to support patients from low-income families.
Hamza Foundation Chairman Ijaz Ali Khan and Medical Director Dr. Tariq Khan provided a detailed briefing to the visiting delegation. They informed the committee that the foundation is currently providing free screened blood, blood products such as fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and platelets, iron chelation medicines and food support to 1,563 registered patients.
According to the foundation’s management, these services are aimed at assisting patients who require regular blood transfusions and long-term medical care but cannot afford the cost of treatment.
Members of the district Zakat committee appreciated the organization’s efforts in providing healthcare support to vulnerable patients. Chairman Muhammad Zaheer said welfare institutions such as the Hamza Foundation play an important role in supporting individuals affected by chronic blood disorders.
He added that the Zakat committee would continue to cooperate with organizations working for the welfare of patients and the broader community.
The Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Center in Peshawar provides treatment support, blood transfusion services and medical assistance to patients suffering from inherited blood disorders, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
