TIMERGARA, Feb 26: The Forest Department recovered a large quantity of illegally stored timber during a late-night raid in Kombat, Jandol, officials said on Wednesday.

Acting on what authorities described as credible information, officials raided an unoccupied house in the suburban area and seized a significant stockpile of sleepers that had allegedly been stored unlawfully.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of District Forest Officer (DFO) Syed Shabbir Jan. Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Jandol Muhammad Farzad, Assistant Commissioner Samar Bagh Muhammad Ayaz and local police personnel also participated in the raid.

Officials said the recovered timber has been taken into official custody and handed over to the relevant authorities. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those found responsible.

DFO Syed Shabbir Jan stated that action against illegal logging and timber smuggling would continue across the district. He said the department would maintain coordination with other agencies to protect forest resources.

The Forest Department has also urged residents to report any suspected illegal logging or timber transportation to authorities to ensure timely enforcement action.
