Pak-China Friendship Cup 3x3 Championship 2026 to be held in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD — The Pak-China Friendship Cup 3×3 Championship 2026 will be held from March 5 to 8 at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The event is being organized with the support of the Pakistan Sports Board and under the supervision of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).

According to organizers, the FIBA-endorsed tournament has drawn significant participation from across the country, reflecting growing interest in 3×3 basketball. A total of 48 club teams, 16 departmental teams, and 26 women’s teams are set to compete in their respective categories.

The championship will contribute to FIBA 3×3 international ranking points, offering Pakistani players an opportunity to strengthen their global standing in the fast-growing format of the sport.

Growing interest in 3×3 basketball

Officials said the scale of participation highlights the expansion of 3×3 basketball in Pakistan. The format, recognized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), has gained prominence internationally and is part of major global competitions.

The Pakistan Basketball Federation stated that it continues to focus on developing basketball at grassroots and competitive levels nationwide.

Sports diplomacy and bilateral ties

Organizers noted that the tournament also commemorates longstanding diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Beyond competition, the event is expected to serve as a platform for promoting sporting cooperation and engagement.

The organizing committee said arrangements have been finalized to ensure smooth management of the four-day championship at the national sports venue in Islamabad.
