ISLAMABAD — The government has facilitated the overseas employment of more than 400 skilled Pakistani youth in Saudi Arabia after they completed technical training, skills assessment and visa processing under the Prime Minister’s youth-focused employment initiative.
A ceremony to mark their departure was held on March 2, 2026, at the NAVTTC Centre of Excellence in Sector H-9/4, Islamabad. Officials described the development as part of efforts to create structured and merit-based overseas employment pathways for trained workers.
The initiative is being implemented through the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, which aims to strengthen workforce development and improve access to international job markets.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, attended the ceremony as chief guest. Gulmina Bilal Ahmad, Chairperson NAVTTC, and Muhammad Amir Jan, Executive Director NAVTTC, were also present, along with members of parliament and representatives of partner training institutions.
Structured training and verification
According to officials, the selected candidates underwent standardized technical training and skill verification to meet international employment standards. Visa facilitation and coordination with overseas employers were carried out through an institutional framework designed to ensure transparency and compliance.
NAVTTC representatives said the program focuses on aligning training with global labor market needs, particularly in sectors where skilled Pakistani workers are in demand.
Focus on workforce development
Speakers at the event said the initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance Pakistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system through quality assurance and international accreditation.
Officials added that structured overseas placements not only provide employment opportunities for youth but also contribute to remittances and skills development at the national level.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to expanding international employment opportunities through coordinated training, assessment and placement mechanisms.
