TAXILA: District Food Controller Rawalpindi Azhar Baloch has said that ensuring the availability of quality government flour in sufficient quantities remains the administration’s top priority during Ramadan, particularly for residents of Taxila and Wah Cantt.
Speaking about the arrangements, he stated that government flour sale points have been established at multiple locations across Taxila and Wah Cantt in addition to registered shops. He said the initiative aims to make flour easily accessible to every citizen during the holy month.
Azhar Baloch warned that illegal flour smuggling would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said daily operations and checkpoints are being conducted to curb unlawful transportation. According to him, dozens of vehicles have been intercepted and hundreds of tons of smuggled flour recovered, with legal action initiated against the drivers and owners involved.
He assured residents that there would be no shortage of government-subsidized flour in the area during Ramadan. Strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to maintain steady supply and prevent hoarding or overpricing.
The district food controller also cautioned flour mills against compromising on quality standards. He said mills found producing or supplying substandard flour would face strict legal action, heavy fines, and possible seizure.
He added that complaints regarding non-standard flour are being taken seriously and may lead to registration of cases and enforcement measures under relevant laws.
Azhar Baloch reiterated that providing quality flour to citizens in adequate quantities during Ramadan is the administration’s foremost responsibility, and all necessary steps are being taken to ensure smooth distribution across Taxila and Wah Cantt.
