HARIPUR — Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hazara Nasir Mahmood Satti inaugurated the Traffic Shaheen Squad and Traffic First Aid Squad during a ceremony held at the Regional Office Abbottabad, aimed at improving traffic management and emergency response across the region.
The event was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad Haroon Rashid Khan, SSP Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq Khan, and other senior traffic police officials.
Modern equipment distributed
During the ceremony, the DIG distributed modern equipment among traffic police personnel, including heavy bikes, body-worn cameras, respiratory masks, protective glasses, traffic flashlights, revolving lights, signal rods, and first aid kits.
Officials said the equipment is intended to improve operational efficiency, ensure smooth traffic flow, and strengthen emergency response capabilities.

Focus on technology and public service
Addressing the gathering, DIG Nasir Mahmood Satti said the initiative aligns with the vision of Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Zulfiqar Hameed to equip the force with modern technology for better public service and safety.
He said the newly launched squads would be further strengthened over time to enhance performance.
Role of Traffic Shaheen Squad
Officials said the Traffic Shaheen Squad has been established to manage traffic flow on busy roads, intersections, and near educational institutions.
The squad will remain in constant coordination with the control room and has been trained to guide commuters, suggest alternate routes, and respond promptly in emergency situations.

Traffic First Aid Squad for emergencies
The Traffic First Aid Squad has been formed to provide immediate medical assistance to road accident victims and help reduce response times.
Personnel have received specialized training in first aid and emergency handling and will be deployed on major roads to ensure quick access to accident sites. The squad will also coordinate with rescue services for timely assistance.
Instructions for professional conduct
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the DIG directed traffic personnel to maintain professionalism and adopt a courteous approach while dealing with the public.
He emphasized the importance of enforcing traffic laws while respecting citizens and ensuring proper use of the equipment provided for effective service delivery.
