Pind Dadan Khan (Mushtaq Raza) — The work order for the Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar project has been issued, marking the beginning of a comprehensive upgrade to transform the main bazaar into a newly designed, modern marketplace.
Wider beautification plan linked to Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar
According to official details, beautification projects worth 397 million rupees will be carried out in Jhelum, Dina, Sohawa, and Pind Dadan Khan. The Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar is part of this broader initiative aimed at upgrading commercial spaces in multiple tehsils.
A special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed the beautification plans for every district, tehsil, and city. She was presented with briefings, images, and proposed designs for the ongoing developmental work.
First phase timeline and province-wide upgrades
The first phase of the beautification plan — which includes work on the Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar — is scheduled for completion between February and May. Across Punjab’s 39 districts, 132 beautification schemes valued at 16.9 billion rupees are underway. Work orders for 97 schemes have been issued, while 88 projects have already begun.
Design features of the Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar
Under the Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar initiative, the project includes restoration of historic gates, installation of fiberglass and tensile covers, and the addition of fountains, artificial waterfalls, and other water features. Green belts will be developed along main market roads, supported by fast-growing plants and enhanced greenery. Traditional grey tiles on footpaths will be replaced with colored tiles to improve the bazaar’s aesthetic appeal.
Monitoring, accountability, and enforcement
A digital dashboard will be created for real-time monitoring of beautification projects, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that it be updated daily. Assistant Commissioners across Punjab will now have KPIs similar to Deputy Commissioners.
The chief minister ordered action on issues such as open manholes, broken roads, garbage piles, damaged green belts, and faded paint. She emphasized that if encroachments are found, the responsible Assistant Commissioner will be held accountable.
Province-wide implementation continues
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the beautification process will extend to every district, city, and town. “Not just one market — every corner of the city should look clean and beautiful,” she said.
She also instructed that public convenience be ensured throughout the upgrade process so that residents do not face unnecessary difficulties.
Other key city upgrades
In Sialkot, the upgraded Iqbal Manzil Bazaar and surrounding streets will be completed by May 31. In Rawalpindi, work will modernize Raja Bazaar and the Commercial Market area. In Chakwal, Chhapar Bazaar’s name will be changed, and beautification will be completed by March 30.
Beautification projects worth 397 million rupees — including the Pind Dadan Khan model bazaar — will be completed in Jhelum, Dina, Sohawa, and Pind Dadan Khan.
