RAWALPINDI — Five suspected militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in Pishin district of Balochistan on February 22, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military said the operation targeted members of a group referred to as “Fitna al Khwarij,” which it described as an externally supported network. The action was initiated after intelligence reports indicated their presence in the area.
ISPR stated that troops engaged the group in an exchange of fire. One suspect reportedly detonated a suicide device during the confrontation, while four others were shot dead.
Security personnel recovered weapons, ammunition and explosive material from the location. The statement said the individuals had been linked to militant activity in the region.
Authorities have launched a sanitization operation to secure the surrounding area.
The military reiterated that counterterrorism operations under the National Action Plan, including the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee, are ongoing across the country.
