HASSAN ABDAL : The district administration has intensified its crackdown against profiteering, illegal LPG refilling in vehicles and unauthorized petrol pump operations across Attock district on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The campaign is being supervised by Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza, with field inspections led by Assistant Commissioner Attock Muhammad Arif Qureshi in multiple localities, including Civil Bazaar Attock, Peoples Colony Awan Sharif, Haji Shah, Bota and Gondal.
Shops sealed, fines imposed
During inspections in Civil Bazaar, a butcher shop was sealed for selling beef at inflated rates, while other traders were fined for overcharging customers. In Haji Shah, authorities sealed a shop involved in illegal LPG refilling in vehicles.
In Gondal, shopkeepers were penalized for selling fruits and vegetables above officially notified prices and for failing to display government-issued price lists.
In Dhoke Fatah, Attock city, four shops were sealed for illegally refilling LPG in vehicles, an activity authorities described as posing serious safety risks. In village Bota, an unauthorized petrol agency operating along Fatehjang Road was also sealed.
Officials said fines totaling Rs110,000 were imposed during the enforcement drive.
Warning to violators
Speaking to the media, Assistant Commissioner Arif Qureshi said the campaign would continue without discrimination under the supervision of the deputy commissioner.
He urged traders to comply strictly with government-notified prices, particularly during Ramazan, warning that violations could result in further fines, sealing of premises and registration of FIRs.
Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb price manipulation and unsafe fuel handling practices in the district.
