Timergara — District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir, Taimoor Khan, on Tuesday declared that there was no place for criminals in the district, pledging indiscriminate action against accused persons regardless of their influence or background.
Addressing an open court (Khuli Kacheri) at Police Station Khaal, which continued for over five hours, the DPO said that individuals involved in criminal and immoral activities had either been expelled from the area or booked under the law. He added that fake social media accounts used to defame citizens would be traced with the assistance of the Federal Investigation Agency and other relevant institutions, while suspects residing abroad would be pursued through Interpol.
During the open court, the DPO listened to public complaints and issued on-the-spot instructions for resolving several issues. Senior police officials, including DSP Sher Hussain, DSP Traffic Khan Nazar Khan, and station house officers from Khall, Timergara, and Balambat, were present. The DPO informed participants that lists had been compiled of car bargain centres allegedly selling vehicles on interest, brothels, drug dealers, hired killers, illegal moneylenders, timber mafia groups, land grabbers, and fake spiritual healers. He said action had already been taken against several such elements.
According to the DPO, raids were conducted on 13 brothels, cases were registered, and women from three families involved in obscenity were expelled from the district. He also announced a comprehensive crackdown against the timber mafia in Tehsil Khaal, stressing that no one would be allowed to damage forest resources under any circumstances.
Taimoor Khan further announced a complete ban on fireworks in Lower Dir and directed station house officers to strictly enforce the order.
