ICCI President sees 2026 as turning point for Pakistan’s economy

ISLAMABAD – The President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has expressed confidence that the New Year will mark the beginning of economic revival and stability for Pakistan. Speaking to visiting delegations at the Chamber House on Thursday, he said the country is entering a critical but promising phase where continuity of reforms and business community confidence can help steer growth.

He noted that strengthening industry, exports, and investment is essential for building long-term resilience, adding that prudent economic policies will be key to sustaining progress.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood also acknowledged the role of Pakistan’s defence leadership, paying tribute to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other Services Chiefs for their commitment to national security. He said a strong defence and a strong economy go hand in hand, with stability providing the foundation for investor confidence and sustainable development.

ICCI’s role in bridging government and business

Reaffirming ICCI’s role as a bridge between government and the private sector, he said the Chamber will continue to facilitate policy advocacy, promote trade and investment, and support initiatives aimed at economic uplift. He highlighted ICCI’s focus on empowering entrepreneurs, strengthening small and medium enterprises, encouraging youth participation in business, and advancing public-private partnerships.

Delegations visiting the Chamber praised ICCI’s leadership and expressed confidence that it will remain a driving force for economic development and reforms that support a business-friendly environment.
