Rawalpindi, January 15, 2026 — The Pakistan Army and the United States Army are engaged in Exercise Inspired Gambit–2026, a bilateral counterterrorism exercise aimed at enhancing operational coordination and strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise is being conducted from January 8 to 16, 2026, and represents the 13th edition of the Pakistan–US joint training series that has continued uninterrupted since 1995. The drill focuses on counterterrorism operations, joint tactics, and modern operational procedures in complex security environments.
A Distinguished Visitors’ Day was observed on January 15 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Pabbi, where Ms. Natalie Baker, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States to Pakistan, visited alongside senior US military officials. The event was also attended by the Commander Rawalpindi Corps.
During the ceremony, senior officers were briefed on the exercise’s objectives, scope, and training methodology. Troops from both armies demonstrated advanced counterterrorism drills, reflecting a high degree of professionalism, preparedness, and interoperability. The visiting dignitaries commended the participating contingents for their discipline and operational competence.
ISPR stated that Exercise Inspired Gambit–2026 aims to promote the exchange of counterterrorism expertise, improve coordination through joint drills, and further develop interoperability between Pakistan and US forces. The exercise also contributes to mutual trust and understanding between the two militaries.
Defence observers note that such joint engagements play a key role in reinforcing counterterrorism cooperation and enhancing regional security through shared training and experience.
