COAS Asim Munir pays tribute to police martyrs during visit to National Police Academy

RAWALPINDI, Jan 19, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the National Police Academy, where he paid tribute to police martyrs and underscored the importance of strong coordination between security institutions, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The Field Marshal was received by the academy’s commandant and presented with a guard of honour by a police contingent. He laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha, honouring the sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives while combating terrorism, crime, and internal security threats.

During briefings at the academy, the Field Marshal was informed about ongoing training initiatives, including the SHIELD programme, aimed at equipping police officers with modern skills and operational capabilities. He later interacted with Cadet ASPs, highlighting the critical responsibility of the police in ensuring public safety and enforcing the rule of law.

In an address to senior police leadership, including IGPs and Additional IGPs, the Field Marshal stressed that effective inter-agency cooperation and people-centric policing are essential for maintaining peace and internal stability. He described policing as a sacred trust and assured officers that the Armed Forces stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan’s police.

Police leadership present on the occasion reiterated their resolve to enhance professional standards, improve training frameworks, and pursue institutional reforms to address emerging security challenges.
