SWABI: Vice Chancellor of Women University Swabi, Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen, has said that interfaith harmony is essential for sustainable peacebuilding and social cohesion, particularly in an era shaped by rapid information flow and artificial intelligence.
She made these remarks during a programme organized by the university’s Department of Journalism to mark the International Day for Preventing Violent Extremism. The event was held under the direction of the Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (CECVE), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Yasmeen stressed that university students must understand the importance of tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. She noted that higher education institutions have a responsibility to promote critical thinking and responsible engagement in a rapidly changing digital environment.
Deputy Director Waseem Khattak delivered a lecture titled “Counter-Narratives, Interfaith Harmony, and Peaceful Coexistence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.” He highlighted the role of youth, academia and media in countering extremist narratives through dialogue and informed communication.
The vice chancellor appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to guiding students toward harmony and peace to help build a tolerant and progressive society.
