Security forces conduct operation in Dera Ismail Khan, four killed

RAWALPINDI — Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district on February 23, killing four suspected militants, the military said.

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the action was taken after reports of the presence of members of a group described as “Fitna al Khwarij.” The statement alleged the group had external links.

According to ISPR, troops engaged the militants during the operation, resulting in a firefight that led to the deaths of four individuals. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the location.

The military said the suspects had been involved in multiple militant incidents in the area. A follow-up clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any remaining threats.

Officials stated that counterterrorism operations under the National Action Plan, including the initiative referred to as “Azm-e-Istehkam,” remain ongoing across the country.

No additional operational details were disclosed.
