ISPR: Security forces kill 15 militants in intelligence-based operations in Balochistan

RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s security forces killed 15 militants in two intelligence-based operations carried out in different areas of Balochistan earlier this week, according to the military.

In a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on March 5 in Harnai District and Basima after intelligence reports indicated the presence of armed militants.

During the first operation in Harnai, security forces targeted a militant hideout and engaged the fighters in a gun battle, killing 12 militants.

In a separate raid in Basima, troops tracked militants belonging to Fitna al Hindustan. After an exchange of fire, three militants were killed, the military said.

Authorities also recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from the militants during the operations.

The military said follow-up sanitisation operations are underway in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.

Officials added that Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism drive under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative will continue to target militant networks operating in the country.
