Police review Easter security at churches in Jhelum district

Jhelum: Police in Jhelum district reviewed security arrangements at churches and other sensitive locations ahead of Easter, as authorities stepped up measures to ensure safety during religious gatherings.

SP Investigation Jhelum, Muhammad Sikandar Gondal, visited multiple places of worship in Pind Dadan Khan and surrounding areas, accompanied by station house officers (SHOs) and other police personnel. The inspection focused on preparedness and implementation of security protocols during Easter celebrations.

Officials checked entry and exit points, walk-through gates, metal detectors, CCTV systems and the deployment of security staff at key locations.

Focus on security protocols

During the visit, officers were directed to remain vigilant and closely monitor any suspicious activity. Police were instructed to strictly implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure thorough checking at entry points.

Security personnel were also advised to make effective use of body cameras and maintain proper screening measures, including separate arrangements for women and children.

Public safety and coordination

Authorities emphasised the importance of maintaining a secure environment while ensuring respectful treatment of citizens during security checks.

The review is part of broader efforts to strengthen security at places of worship during religious occasions and prevent any untoward incidents.
