RAWALPINDI, April 2: Pakistan’s security forces eliminated eight militants during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan after detecting their movement near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing (ISPR) said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out on April 1, when troops engaged the group in a targeted action. According to the ISPR, all eight militants were killed and weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. The group was identified as part of “Fitna al Khwarij.”
The development highlights continued security challenges in border areas, where authorities say militant movement remains a concern.
Border control concerns reiterated
The ISPR urged Afghan authorities to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of their territory for militant activity against Pakistan.
Follow-up operation underway
A sanitisation operation is ongoing to clear the area of any remaining threats. The military said operations under “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue as part of broader counterterrorism efforts.
