TIMERGARA — The district administration in Lower Dir has launched a special price control campaign during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure essential commodities are sold at government-approved rates.
Acting on the directives of the provincial government and Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Muhammad Arif Khan, the administration intensified monitoring activities across markets.
Additional Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Timergara Janbaz Ahmad conducted surprise inspections in various markets of Talash following complaints of overpricing.
During the inspections, several shopkeepers, including butchers, were checked for compliance with official price lists. Authorities confiscated the national identity cards of violators, while others were issued strict warnings against future violations.
Crackdown to continue throughout Ramadan
The Additional Assistant Commissioner stated that the campaign will continue throughout Ramadan to protect consumers from exploitation and ensure the availability of essential goods at reasonable prices.
Officials said strict action will be taken against traders found involved in overcharging or violating price control regulations.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to public relief measures during Ramadan and urged citizens to report cases of overpricing to the authorities.
