UPPER DIR: Authorities in Upper Dir have completed preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign scheduled for April 2026, with officials stressing coordinated efforts to ensure full coverage of children under five years of age.
The District Polio Eradication Committee reviewed field plans, security arrangements and administrative measures during a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The campaign will involve trained teams visiting homes, schools, madrasas and other locations to administer polio vaccine drops.
The meeting was attended by District Police Officer Aslam Nawaz, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Adnan, the District Health Officer, EPI Coordinator Upper Dir, N-STOP officer, and representatives from education, local government and other departments.
Planning, security and deployment reviewed
Officials were briefed on final preparations, including micro-planning, deployment of polio teams, and security arrangements to ensure safe and smooth operations in the field.
The committee also reviewed the performance of the previous campaign and issued instructions aimed at improving coverage and effectiveness in the upcoming drive.
Focus on coordination and high-risk areas
Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar emphasized the need for strong coordination among departments, timely deployment of teams and enhanced public awareness among parents.
He directed officials to ensure strict monitoring, accurate data verification and special attention to high-risk areas to achieve full implementation of the campaign plan.
Following the meeting, the deputy commissioner formally inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to children.
