Court official dies after shooting himself at Chakwal courts

CHAKWAL: A court official was found dead on Monday morning after reportedly shooting himself at the district courts in Chakwal, police said.

The deceased was identified as 59-year-old Muhammad Kaleemullah, an ahlmad (court clerk) posted in the court of a senior civil judge. According to police and judicial officials, Kaleemullah arrived at the court premises before working hours. After spending some time in his room, he left his mobile phone behind and went towards the washrooms near the rear wall of the building, where he fired a single shot to his head with his pistol. He died on the spot.

Officials confirmed that Kaleemullah was authorized to carry a personal pistol. They added that while he had faced a personal dispute in the past, it had been resolved, and no immediate motive has been established. The weapon was recovered near the body. Kaleemullah was a resident of Bhoun Road in Chakwal city.

Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. Senior police officers, including the SDPO Sadr Circle, DSP Headquarters, SHO of Sadr police station, and Elite Force personnel, reached the site soon after the incident. Police said further investigation is underway.
