Rawalpindi, January 29, 2026 — Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday visited Bahawalpur Garrison, where he reviewed the operational, training, and administrative preparedness of the formation, with emphasis on readiness for emerging multi-domain warfare challenges, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was briefed on ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing combat effectiveness across conventional and technology-driven domains, underscoring the Pakistan Army’s efforts to adapt to evolving security environments.

Field exercise highlights technology-driven operations
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir observed the high-tempo field exercise “Steadfast Resolve” at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The exercise demonstrated the coordinated employment of modern battlefield capabilities, including unmanned aerial systems, electronic warfare assets, advanced surveillance platforms, and integrated command-and-control structures.
The exercise reflected the armed forces’ focus on incorporating niche technologies into operational planning to enhance situational awareness, decision-making, and battlefield responsiveness.
Emphasis on transformation and future readiness
While addressing the troops, the COAS & CDF praised their professionalism, morale, and operational preparedness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully capable of defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the need for sustained readiness in view of future battlefield and security challenges.
He highlighted that the nature of warfare has changed significantly due to rapid technological progress, noting that future military operations will increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than traditional force movement. He added that innovation, indigenisation, and adaptability remain central to the ongoing transformation of the armed forces.
Education initiatives and logistics review
Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at expanding access to digital skills and learning opportunities, particularly for students from Southern Punjab. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the army’s commitment to education and character development.
The army chief later visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance and sustainment systems supporting modern military platforms through advanced technologies and indigenous solutions.
Upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha in tribute to the martyrs.
