RAWALPINDI, Feb 5, 2026 — Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people during a visit to Muzaffarabad, where he paid tribute to martyrs of the Kashmir movement.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the army chief laid a wreath at the Jammu and Kashmir Martyrs Monument and acknowledged the sacrifices made by Kashmiris in pursuit of their rights.
Addressing local elders and veterans, he said that despite continued human rights abuses and political pressure, the Kashmiri people’s struggle has remained resilient. He reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic and moral support and pursue a peaceful resolution of the dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The COAS also assessed the preparedness of troops stationed in the area, commending their discipline, morale and combat readiness. He underscored the need for constant vigilance and seamless coordination to counter any potential threats.
During a visit to a forward position, the army chief interacted with soldiers on duty and said that any provocation would be met with a timely and appropriate response. He added that the armed forces are prepared to address both conventional and emerging security challenges.
