Heroes of Hazara civil awards presented in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The Balochistan International Think Tank and Friends of Universe Society Pakistan awarded Heroes of Hazara National Civil Awards gold medals to 20 personalities from diverse fields during a ceremony at the Abbottabad Press Club.

Organizers said the awards recognized individuals who had rendered outstanding services in journalism, law, politics, education, sports, and the arts. The recipients included journalist Atif Qayyum, President Abbottabad Union of Journalists and representative of Samaa TV; Iqbal Saghar, former General Secretary Abbottabad Press Club and News Editor Daily Mohsib; Adil Abbasi, former General Secretary Abbottabad Union of Journalists and representative of 92 TV; Muhammad Shahzad Jahangiri, President Mansehra Press Club and Bureau Chief Daily Shamal Abbottabad; Hilal Yousafzai, Vice President Battagram Press Club and representative of PTV, Bureau Chief Daily Ausaf; and Asif Khan, President Torghar Press Club and Bureau Chief Daily Mashriq.

Other honorees included the late Khanzada Amjad Khan, President Haripur Press Club; Qadir Bakhsh, former President Havelian Press Club; M. Riaz, President Peshawar Press Club; senior journalist Shamim Shahid; legal expert Haji Sabir Hussain Tanoli; Advocate Supreme Court Sajid Khan Jadoon; educationist Wahid Siraj Mir; politician Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, former Speaker of the Provincial Assembly; singer Raheel Abbas; actor Ijaz Goga; national footballer SSP (Tagma Quaid-e-Azam Sports); social worker Jamil Akhtar Tanoli; and poet Naseem Abbasi.

Organizers said the awards were meant to highlight contributions that have strengthened journalism, civic life, and cultural identity in Hazara and beyond.
