SHANGLA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has directed district administrations to take strict action against private schools found conducting classes during the officially declared winter vacations.

Complaints from several districts indicated that some institutions were compelling students to attend classes despite the provincial notification. In response, Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners have been instructed to inspect schools in their jurisdictions and ensure compliance with the holiday schedule.

enforcement measures and penalties

According to official instructions, any school operating in violation of the winter vacation policy will face immediate action, with reports of such cases forwarded to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority (KP-PSRA) for legal proceedings. The authority has issued written directives to all Deputy Commissioners, stressing the need for effective monitoring and enforcement.

Officials expressed concern that ignoring the holiday notification not only undermines government orders but also exposes children to health risks during the harsh winter season, particularly in mountainous districts such as Shangla.

parents and civil society welcome directive

Parents and civil society members have welcomed the government’s move, urging district administrations to ensure strict compliance. They said no school should be allowed to exploit students and parents by disregarding official notifications issued in the public interest.

The district administration has assured that inspections will be carried out and that institutions found violating the winter vacation policy will face no leniency.
