MARDAN: The Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a farewell reception in honour of renowned physician and former medical superintendent of DHQ Hospital Mardan, Dr Javed Iqbal, acknowledging his services to the health sector in the district.
The event was held on the invitation of Zahir Shah, provincial general secretary of the Central Organisation Tajiran and group leader of the Mardan Chamber. Dr Javed Iqbal attended the gathering along with child specialist Dr Syed Tariq, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Mohammad Taj, Dr Abubakar and Paramedics Association President Taj Mohammad.
The guests were welcomed by chamber office-bearers, including President Awais Khan, District Mardan Traders Association General Secretary Waqar Ali Bacha, Senior Vice President Walid Mir Kashmiri, Chairman Ghulam Sarwar Saraf and representatives of various markets. Women Chamber President Aqila Sumbal and officials of the local press club were also present.
Participants paid tribute to Dr Javed Iqbal’s contributions during his tenure as medical superintendent, highlighting his efforts to improve administrative systems and enhance the quality of healthcare services at DHQ Hospital.
Zahir Shah said Dr Javed Iqbal’s dedication and commitment to public service had significantly benefited residents of Mardan. He noted that reforms introduced during his tenure helped strengthen hospital management and patient care.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Javed Iqbal said that although he had retired from official duties, he remained committed to serving the community. He shared his experiences regarding healthcare challenges and patient care in the district.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Mardan Chamber presented Dr Javed Iqbal with a commemorative shield and gifts in recognition of his services. He thanked the chamber leadership and participants for the honour.
