RAWALPINDI — President Asif Ali Zardari visited the National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad on Friday, where he addressed participants of the 27th National Security Workshop (NSW-27), a flagship national-level programme designed to deepen understanding of Pakistan’s security landscape.

The workshop brought together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers, academics, and representatives from civil society, providing a rare multi-stakeholder platform to examine critical dimensions of national power under the framework of Comprehensive National Security.

Leadership, National Cohesion Vital for Security: President

In his keynote remarks, President Zardari congratulated participants on completing the intensive workshop and commended their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s security outlook. He emphasised that in an evolving regional and global environment, informed leadership, national cohesion and integrated policymaking remain essential to addressing the country’s contemporary challenges.

The President noted that effective security management requires close coordination between state institutions and an informed citizenry capable of contributing to a unified national vision.

NDU’s Workshop Stands as Premier National Platform

NSW-27 continues to serve as one of Pakistan’s most respected and influential national-security learning platforms. Hosted annually by NDU, the programme is designed to enhance institutional capacity, foster strategic thinking and promote a whole-of-nation approach to resolving security issues.

Participants engaged in discussions and exercises focused on how economic, political, diplomatic, informational and military instruments of national power intersect to shape Pakistan’s long-term security environment.

Certificates Awarded to Graduating Members

At the conclusion of the ceremony, President Zardari presented certificates to the graduating participants, marking the formal completion of NSW-27. The event reaffirmed NDU’s continuing role in cultivating informed leadership across sectors and strengthening Pakistan’s national-security ecosystem.
