Two Pakistan Navy officers promoted to the rank of rear admiral

Islamabad, Jan 28, 2026 — Two commodores of the Pakistan Navy have been promoted to the rank of rear admiral, the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) said on Wednesday.

Rear Admiral Javed Zia was commissioned in the Weapon Engineering Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1994. He is a graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and the National Defence University, Islamabad, and holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). During his naval career, he has served in a number of key command and staff appointments and is currently serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Materiel) at Naval Headquarters, Islamabad.

Rear Admiral Armaghan Ahmad was commissioned in the Marine Engineering Branch in 1994. He is also a graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and the National Defence University, Islamabad, and holds a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing System Engineering and Management from NUST. He has extensive experience in various senior appointments and is presently serving as Managing Director Dockyard, Karachi.

In recognition of their distinguished and meritorious services to the Pakistan Navy, both flag officers have been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).
