Minor girl recovered, suspects arrested in Wari sale case

Police officials in Upper Dir recover a minor girl and arrest suspects involved in an alleged sale case in Wari.

Upper Dir: Police have recovered a minor girl allegedly sold in the Karodara area of Wari and arrested several suspects involved in the case, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, Wari Police Station received information that a minor girl had been sold in the Karodara locality. Upon receiving the report, Syed Fida Hassan Shah, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand, and Aslam Nawaz, District Police Officer (DPO) Upper Dir, took immediate notice of the matter and directed swift action.

Following the instructions, a special investigation team was constituted under the supervision of Muhammad Ilyas, with SDPO Wari Circle Shahanshah Khan, SHO Wari Police Station Taj Muhammad Khan, and other police officials as members.

During the investigation, police found that a girl aged around 12 to 13 years had allegedly been sold to a man aged approximately 60 to 65 years for Rs500,000. The police team successfully recovered the girl and arrested the suspects identified as Yusuf Khan, Masood Ahmad and Murtaza.

DPO Upper Dir Aslam Nawaz praised the police team for the successful operation and said that criminal elements involved in such heinous acts would be dealt with strictly under the law. He added that the police remain committed to suppressing crimes and protecting vulnerable segments of society.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals and possible networks involved in the crime.
