ISLAMABAD, Apr 03 (ABC): The Cabinet Division has proposed a Rs10 billion increase in the allocation for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme (SAP), taking the total proposed demand to Rs80 billion for the upcoming financial year 2026-27.

According to official documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the estimated expenditure for the programme during FY2025-26 stands at Rs70 billion. The proposed demand for the next fiscal year reflects an increase of Rs 10 billion compared to the current year’s allocation.

The total approved cost of the programme is Rs 70 billion, while actual expenditure up to June 30, 2025, has reached Rs 63.98 billion, indicating substantial utilisation of allocated funds.

According to the documents, funds under the programme are released and utilised on the recommendation of Steering Committee on SAP. The allocated resources are channelled through executing agencies of the respective federal ministries and provincial governments in line with the approved SDGs Achievement Programme (SAP) guidelines.

The programme, approved on January 22, 2019, continues to be implemented through coordinated efforts of federal and provincial authorities under the PSDP framework.

The SDGs Achievement Programme supports key development priorities across the country through a range of targeted interventions. These include initiatives in poverty reduction, education, healthcare access, gender equality, and environmental sustainability, with a focus on underserved and marginalised communities.

Funds under the programme are utilised to finance small-scale, high-impact projects aimed at improving living standards. These efforts contribute to better service delivery, enhanced access to basic facilities, and livelihood opportunities at the community level.

The proposed increase in allocation to Rs80 billion reflects the government’s plan to scale up ongoing initiatives and expand coverage under the programme.
